Pet Expo - May 12 and 13, 2007 10AM to 4PM at the Blaisdale
We are completing preparations for our first participation in Pet Expo with our own booth. We have the absolute minimum number of people signed up to spend some time in the booth, but we would certainly welcome any of you who could spare an hour or two on either day to bring your Cav and talk to attendees about our wonderful breed. Please call me if you would like to volunteer some time.
A large vinyl club banner has been made which we can use for all our outings and the booth will be decorated with a large crown of "gold" and "jewels", hoping to make everyone smile at our little Kings. We also have created a printed brochure featuring several of our club dogs, providing information on the breed, which we will give only to true prospective members. A notebook computer will be running with a slide show of club events and information on our club and the breed in general. There will be an easel set up with a large board called "Our Cavalier Ohana" with pictures of members and/or their Cavs. PLEASE SEND ME A PICTURE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE SO. Email is fine, or send me a hard copy.
Embroidered Club Logo Tees and Polos
We decided that we would go forward with having shirts made with the club logo. One of our members located an online company with very reasonable prices (a logo embroidered polo for less than $20) and so I placed a large order for all of the directors and several of the people who are working in the booth at Pet Expo as well as ordering quite a few extras in various sizes and colors. Believe me, when you see them, you are going to want at least one! Here's another benefit of attending Pet Expo, first come, first serve. The company is working hard to get them to us before next weekend so we can wear them in the booth. All in all, we will make a professional appearance and I hope you will all be proud to be part of such a great group. We will be right next door to one of our members, Erin Gerwig and her dogwalker etc. business.
Club Potluck - Saturday, June 9, 2007 11AM to 3PMMoanalua Community Park and Dog Park
Don't forget to put the date for our next Potluck on your calendar and let me know how many people in your group attending and what you would like to bring. As usual, the club will provide soft drinks and bottled water, paper products, tents and tables. We will not be in an area that allows grills, so there won't be any hot dogs or hamburgers this time. I will be sending out a reminder again later this month with a map. Jim has a link to a map on our website www.cavalierclubofhawaii.org. We will have our meeting, our speaker, and lunch and then the dogs can stay on leash at the picnic location or you can walk them across the street to the enclosed official Dog Park and let them run free.
We have a special item on the agenda for this meeting. Dr. Gary Johnson will give a talk based on "What to do quickly in an emergency before you can get to your Vet". We welcome suggestions ahead of time on topics. A few suggestions already on the list: Your Cavalier bites or mouths a Buffo frog; Your Cavalier is bitten by a bee or wasp and appears to be having an allergic reaction, Your Cavalier is bleeding heavily from a fight or from an accident; Your Cavalier may have ingested poison. Please send me any ideas you would have to have addressed so that he can prepare for the talk. |
