Cavalier of the Month

Bailey: September & October 2008

Gerald & Joanne named Bailey after the liquor Baileys Irish Cream. He was born Sept 29, 2005; number 5 of 6 male pups in Hokulani's first litter. Bailey is a blend of Portcon and Sandancin lines.  We feel he is of perfect Cavalier temperament, loving, easy going, and always with you.

August 2008 Pokemon (Poke)

Pokemon (Poke) is our 2 1/2 yr. old boy.  He was born on Maui, and at six weeks old came to Honolulu for a one-day visit with his breeder.  We took Poke shopping and purchased all the things to make him comfortable in his new home.  Two weeks later, he was ours!

Poke is a fun, loving, loyal dog.  He is very active and can't wait to go out for his walks or to play ball.  Waikiki is his favorite place to hang out. People are always coming up to him to pet him.  He will definitely put a smile on your face.

Poke visits his grandpa and grandma (neighbors) a few hours every morning and enjoys playing with his pals Kimo & Nutmeg Arcate.   Poke is content just following us all over the house & snuggling up next to us on the couch.  Poke is a treasured member of our family.

July 2008 Tazzy

Hi!  My name is Tazzy.  I was born a year and a half ago in Australia.  When my mommy, Patti, saw me at the pet store, she immediately took me home.  We live by St. Louis Heights with 2 cats (Cookie & Sasha) and 1 bunny (Bun Bun).  I am very active and energetic.  I love to play with all my toys (my favorite is a duck), go running with mommy, and visit Auntie Joanne and her son Brandon.  I can catch a tennis ball in mid air and love to surprise mommy at the door when she comes home each day.  I am happy that we joined the CKCS Club of Hawaii.  It was so much fun playing with all my friends at Kapiolani Park.  We hope to see you all again real soon.

April & May 2008: Beth & Myron's Daisy

Daisy is as sweet as the day is long and here is the story of how she came into our lives.

We have always had Lhasa’s and we were devastated when we lost "Sam" to cancer in 2006.  But none was more distraught than our other Lhasa "Molly", the younger of the two.  She cried and cried for weeks to the point where we felt compelled to go out and find her a companion.

Well, the first time Molly and Daisy met, Molly looked at us as if to say, "and what are you thinking?”  She was aloof and not interested in the puppy.  But the next morning we awoke to find them both in the dog house sleeping together and they have been inseparable ever since.  Daisy has shown us that as sweet as the Lhasa’s have been, only Cavaliers have been bred to be the true "lap dogs" whose attention seems to always be focused on us.

February & March 2008: Kathy Summers and Dash

My name is Kathy Summers. We have nine children and twenty four grandchildren. I love kids and dogs and love using dogs to help people.  We have an eighteen year old little Shih Tzu, a five year old Golden Retriever who is a therapy dog and Dash, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is four months old.  I have been blessed to take dogs to Kapiolani Women's and Children's Hospital, dressed as a clown, for eighteen years.

It has been my dream to have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for many years and Dash is sweeter than my best dream.
He loves to be held and is learning to walk on a loose leash, to sit, down, stay, stand, watch, come  and to leave food that is on the ground when he is told to leave it. I am amazed at how much he has learned at four months of age.

When he is a year old I will take him to be tested for Therapy Dogs, Inc, and also to take the Humane Society test for pet visitation and then will take him to Kapiolani Hospital to visit the children. The children, their families and the staff will love him, as does everyone who meets him.  I thank God for little Dash and for all the kind people who helped me to get him.

September 2006: Halakea He Kaina Milimili, or Beloved Little Brother

Kaye took this formal portrait of us when she went to see all those other Cavaliers at the dog show in England
so she could remember how cute we were.

I am more of a little pest to my big brother Tazzy and when I came to live with him and my Mom and Dad,
Brian and Kaye, I liked nothing better than to chew on his ears.

At Christmas time, my brother and I really check out Dad carving the turkey.

Now that it is so hot, we like to lay on the shower floor after Dad takes a shower.

July 2006:  Melanie & Gary's: Camilla Barker Bones

We thought our Blenheim Toppy was lonely, so we ordered her a "baby sister".   When Camilla Barker Bones arrived, however, Toppy wasn't quite as thrilled as we were.  She continues to annoy and pester her big sis, and occasionally gets Toppy excited enough to chase her around the house or yard.  After gaining a few too many pounds when she was spayed recently, Toppy sure needs the exercise.   The two girls love to go on long walks around the neighborhood, with Toppy always on the lookout for a free meal - a tasty gecko or two makes her day!  Camilla hasn't discovered them yet, and is happy just to find a big "frog jerky" to roll in.

May 2006:  Jim & AiLin's Kimo

AiLin picked Kimo from a litter of five when he was two weeks old.

                May 28, 2003                                        June 13, 2003

Kimo’s third birthday is May 11, 2006.  He is still a puppy playing with toys that he can chase,
squeak and use to tease Mama & Papa.

Kimo is not a show dog, he is working with us on obedience and rally.
